Shrek The Musical Jr - March 10 - March 11, 2016

Parkway Southwest Middle School

 DIRECTOR'S NOTE

I have been a fan of Shrek ever since I saw the movie. I thought that it was a unique fairy tale cleverly written with a powerful message of acceptance, tolerance and a belief that all things are possible.

I am extremely lucky to have a wonderful cast and crew involved in this production that allowed their imaginations to soar and their creativity to blossom into their performances and the set that they created. The entire set was not only created by students but it was also constructed by students, bringing educational theatre to a whole new level. I am so proud of everything they have accomplished.

To the 8th Graders: I have truly enjoyed these last three years and I will miss you next year. I wish you well and know that you will accomplish great things.

I could never have done this production without Karen Kaibel for her wonderful music direction. Taking the time to work with the cast on the timing and songs has been such an asset.

I would also like to thank Melanie Peterson, Diane Stublefied and Christine Fracchia for volunteering their time and energy to help my costume crew create wonderful costumes for this production; I really appreciate all that you have done.

I would like to thank McKinley Seale, our choreographer. She took the time to work with all of the cast to make sure that this production was excellent, no matter how many times it took for her to reteach the dances.

I need to thank Shelby Wohlschlaeger, my production assistant. Shelby volunteered her time to work with the technical crews and help them in any way possible. I am exteremely grateful for all the time she contributed to this production.

A very special thanks goes to Aundrae Williams for his artistic vision and help in completing the set.

Thank you to the parents of the cast and crew, I know that late rehearsals meant that your schedules had to shift and I am so grateful for your committment to your children and their involvement in this show.

I would like to thank my family for teaching me that having an imagination is something that should be valued and cultivated. Thank you for always being there for me, whether it is when I come over to pillage your basement for props and set pieces or to encourage me to follow my dreams.

Lastly, I would like to thank the audience for supporting the Southwest Middle School's performing arts. The students have worked very hard on this production and I hope that you enjoy every moment.
