 Director's Notes

Growing up, like any kid, I was looking for what I was interested in. I dabbled in various ideas and projects from film to singing to writing. And all along the way there is one thing that always stood out to me that my mother would say. She would tell me that whatever I work on, make sure it holds a deeper meaning. A message to communicate or a depth that leaves my audience reflecting on what they just enjoyed. This is the lens through which I have come to select shows I wish to bring to our community and stage. And by this lens I fell in love with Legally Blonde the Musical.

This heartwarming story brings with it such energy and excitement along with lows that make us sympathize with our heroine. We can watch as she learns to be confident and be herself without having to conform to the world around her. We also get to see how important it is to not judge a book by its cover and not be too quick to judge a person. Something that given our current world is an important lesson for all of us to learn.

I wish to give a big heartfelt thank you to the entire Antelope Valley and PRT family for making me feel so welcomed these past 5 years together. Thank you Chris, for all of your dedication and keeping me on track with such a challenging show. Thank you Greg, without your incredible hard work and skills in building, this show would not look as beautiful as it does. Thank you Janelle, your ability to teach music clearly has managed to bring out the most emotional, beautiful, and stunning voices on this stage, bringing me to tears every time. Finally, thank you Carrie, I am truly honored to be directing the last show you will choreograph in the area. And although I will miss working with you, I believe this has been an incredible display of your finest work and I thank you for sharing that with me.

Finally, I have to thank my parents for always supporting me and being there for me. Thank you Kate, your love and support, especially when everything is crazy and stressful, is a ray of sunshine. And thank you to my Lord and Savior for giving me the passion, drive and opportunity to bring projects like this to our stage and for bringing together such a talented cast that made it a reality.

I will miss this community and all the talented individuals in it. But I know this valley has many more years of incredible theater to offer.

Break Legs,
