A warm welcome!

Thank you for coming to a special show that will bring you back in time to 1912 in the fictional location of River City, Iowa. The cast, crew, directors, and families of all cast and crew have been deeply involved learning the "frazology” as Mayor Shinn would call the vocabulary, social “correctness”, and history of the time. They have also been busily occupied with learning lines, dances, gestures, and vocals to present the storyline clearly to you our wonderful audience. Musical Theatre challenges theatre students to become triple threats, mastering acting, singing, and dancing to present the storyline. And, let me not forget our amazing crew students who have been busily occupied with costuming, publicity, set construction, prop construction and gathering and running the actual show with lighting and sound.

It is hard to describe the magic that happens putting a show together. It is a true team effort and a village springs up with everyone united by the storyline in the libretto which becomes the guiding light in the sea of emotions, hopes and dreams of the “perfect” performances for you our valued audience. It has been exciting and dreamlike to watch the growth in these young performers over the past months. Many of these students have never been in a live stage production. They and our veteran performers have worked together long rehearsal hours to master not just lines, movement and vocals, but also time management skills, team work, and used many critical thinking skills in their rehearsal techniques. The “sport” of theatre involves many skills that go beyond the stage and it must be noted that our group of parent boosters PAL has gone above and beyond helping our cast and crew with supervision, nourishment, love, and support.  I need to deeply thank Mrs. Emely Kamikawa, the president of PAL for the long hours she and ALL her parent staff have devoted to this production.  I am also greatly indebted to Mrs. Gale Kadota, our drama teacher and Producer who has gathered together a talented and extremely enjoyable and creative team of directors who I am very honored to work with.

It does take a village to raise a child and a village to put together a show.  Sit back and become part of River City. Think about if you will put your boy in the band?

With best wishes for all of our guests!
