Thirty-one years ago I performed in my first musical ever, Grease, as Johnny Casino at Seabreeze High School in Daytona Beach, FL. While I have been a part of many musicals since, Grease always comes to mind first when I'm thinking about the "good ol' days".
I am very happy to direct and bring to life this 2013 production of Grease at Osceola High School. Grease is set at Rydell High in 1959 with a great musical score featuring the early sounds of Rock and Roll. Grease was first performed in 1971 and it continues to be a favorite of high schools across the country. Its popularity comes from the fact that Grease tells the timeless story of high school students everywhere: fitting in, falling in love, navigating friendships, teenage rebellion, and contemplating a future after high school. While Osceola High School does not have any T-Byrds or Pink Ladies, we do have a diverse population of very talented students who are...
"...for each other
Like wop baba lu mop ah wop bam boom
Just like my brother, Is
Sha na na na na na na na yippity dip de doom
Chang chang-a changitty chang shoo bop
We'll always be together!"
In my third year here at OHS, I can't imagine any place I would rather be. I would like to thank my wife and children for not complaining too much for all those long rehearsals and weekends at school.
I hope you enjoy the show as much as I have.
