A note from the Director
Welcome to The Musical 9 to 5! My name is Kara Marino. I am the director of 9 to 5. This is my second and last show that I am directing with Opus Fides. I am very thankful for the experience and have enjoyed every second of it. I am incredibly proud of this cast and crew. They have worked for countless hours learning music, lines, choreography, and stage cues, all while still being full time students. For a lot of our cast, this is their first time being in a musical ever and they all have risen to the occasion.
What is unique about Opus Fides shows is that we deliver all of our shows with a faith message. The message that I hope everyone takes away from 9 to 5, is one of hope. Life can be really hard for a lot of people, in the show you'll see that it is particularly difficult for woman. The thing that is special though, is how despite the character's struggles they rise above them and change things for themselves. The lead, Violet, has been working at Consolidated for twelve years. Twelve is a very significant number in the Bible, and I can not help but find the "coincidence". Things do not go Violet's way, but with a little help from her friends she is able to turn those tables around. This can reign true in any heart here. Anything you might be struggling with, take that help from God, friends, or family, believe you can do it. If you have have any doubt just listen to the song I Just Might.
I leave you with a final note. Before I had come back to school, I already wanted to cancel this show. I was terrified to put on such a large production. My now music director, sang me the song I Just Might. I was instantly sold. From then on, anytime I had any doubt, I would listen to that song. Get past the few choice words, sexual innuendos, and drug use (which we as a ministry feel, these things are conducive to the message of our show) you'll see how amazing the message in this show is. If you know people in this show, you'll also see that lives have been transformed. For the last time, thank you to all my peeps Amy, Dom, Topper, Mom, Mackenzie, Lexi, Anysia, Owen, Pam, and my Family. I could not do this show without you. Keep the mission of Opus alive and running.
Sincerely,
Kara
