When our students first suggested Newsies last spring, their enthusiasm was palpable. The exuberant score and athletic choreography inspired them to come together as a team and give everything to make this production special. Much like the young characters they portray, they embody the spirit of teamwork and commitment, working together towards a singular goal. Our students represent the true spirit of Norwalk High School: a melting pot of different backgrounds all hungry for the opportunity to share their talents. Whether they were drilling dance numbers, coordinating stage combat, or learning new acrobatics, every student pushed themself past their limits. The growth we have seen over the past few months–in every performer–is astounding.
In addition to the students, we must thank our dedicated staff members who went consistently above and beyond expectations. Every drop of paint, every costume stitch, every poster you see around Norwalk was the result of a team who cares deeply about both our department and the entire school community.
The energy of this production is contagious and I hope you enjoy watching our students perform at the top of their game. The dedication and focus they displayed during our rehearsal period will stay with them for the rest of their lives. They will leave this show ready (and able) to “seize the day!”
