Charley McAfee (Co-Cirector and Technical Director)
Charley McAfee attended the acting conservatory at SUNY Purchase, received a B.A. in theater studies from Charter Oak State College, and a M.F.A in screenwriting and playwriting at Point Park University. He has worked professionally as an actor, dancer, director, and designer throughout Connecticut, including credits with Valley Shakespeare, Long Wharf Theater, Full Force Dance Theater, Collective Consciousness Theater, and Elm Shakespeare. Charley has taught drama at The Regional Center for the Arts, Cooperative Arts and Humanities High School, and Norwalk High School. He would like to give a special thanks to his family, the supportive staff at Norwalk High, all the parents who helped with the production, and the hardworking students who made Newsies such a special show.
Steven Oliver (Co-Director and Vocal Director)
Steven Oliveri teaches choir and music theory here at Norwalk High School. A professional pianist and vocal coach by trade, he came to NHS in 2018. Having performed in, musical directed, and/or accompanied many musicals over the years, he also earned degrees from Purchase College, University of California, Irvine, and Brooklyn College with additional studies at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts and Ithaca College. Mr. Oliveri also recently participated in the Mentorship Program of the National Association of Teachers of Singing and Shenandoah University's CCM Vocal Pedagogy Institute. He thanks not only the hardworking students and staff of Newsies, but also his colleagues in the music department for their tireless dedication to all our endeavors.
