Hello everyone! Welcome to or back to another Northgate Viking Theatre production. It is with great pride and excitement that I present to you the result of hard work, collaboration, and dedication from our advanced musical theatre and technical theatre classes.
What you are about to see is a product of pure teamwork, where every aspect of the show was brought to life by your students during school hours (with a few additional Saturday rehearsals). Watching students from all levels come together to create this production has truly been an incredible privilege to watch.
This particular show, Spamalot:School Edition, presented a unique set of challenges. The students were tasked with understanding and performing satire, embracing slapstick, absurd situations, and the quirky, Monty Python-esque humor and parody that make this show so memorable. Not only did they learn how to execute a professional-level production, but they also had to complete it in just two short months—much like a real-world professional production.
In addition to the creative challenge, this show encouraged students to dive deep into research—exploring languages, time periods, and historical contexts that many of them had never encountered before. This immersion into the world of Spamalot:School Edition has been an exciting learning experience, expanding their understanding of both theatre and storytelling.
Our technical theatre students also rose to the occasion, learning about safe construction, scenic design, and how to bring everything to life within the constraints of a limited performance space. They mastered new skills in building, painting, and problem-solving, all while ensuring safety and efficiency. It has been incredible to see their growth and determination in creating the world you see on stage.
I want to take a moment to thank God for loving me, even when I don’t deserve it. I’d also like to thank Barksdale, my incredible friend and right-hand, whose support has been invaluable throughout this process. A heartfelt thanks also goes to all my family and friends for their unwavering love and encouragement.
I hope you enjoy the show as much as I’ve enjoyed watching these talented students bring it to life. Thank you for supporting our program and these young artists!
Thank you.
