Director's Note
"Some people are worth melting for!" Sometimes, perhaps especially in challenging times, we find the people and passions that are worth our time and effort. These children and this production are indeed worth it all. Every brushstroke painted, stitch sewn, line memorized, note sung, dance choreographed, light programmed, track played, snack donated or devoured, floor swept, table sanitized and each and every mask reminder uttered. When we all look back on 2020 may we not see the way our lives froze in moments of panic, frustration or anxiety but instead recall the way that the sun still rose and shines on. May we remember "hygge;" the good news that conquers and warms our hearts, the friends that stand by us in thick and thin; the creative ways we found to come together to celebrate and mourn at a distance when necessary and the exquisite joy of embracing those melt-worthy people once again. My biggest warm hugs to my husband Randall and our children,Tristan and his lovely wife Leigha, Abbe and Ethan, to Kathy Gupton for her mental synchronization and friendship, to The Drama Mama Posse - Janet Barnett, Kristen DiPasquale, Julie Littrell, Joanna Melton, Marissa Martin and Nikki Parks for their time, patience and service and to Nécole Elizer for her love and encouragement from a distance. Lastly, thanks to Jan Brett for her graciousness when we met last October and for her beautiful legacy of children's literature and illustrations that were the inspiration for my vision for this production.
