As part of both WWTC's and MTC's affilation with the International Thespian Society, our students gain access to the amazing world of the Indiana Thespians. There are several ways that both troupes are participating:
- Competing in the Regional and State Play Competition, where the top 2 schools from each of 7 Regional sites advance to compete at State
- Competing in individual events in acting, design, technical theatre, and film
- Competing for hundreds of thousands of dollars in scholarships from college theatre programs as well as the Indiana Thespians organization
- Competing in the Tech Olympics, a series of events that test the abilities of our technicians in several real-world feats
Additionally, the Regional and State Conferences each year provide the opportunity for students to take numerous workshops from experts in the field. This intense learning supplements what students do in our productions back home, further strengthening our programs. And this year, students will be able to take workshops from Patrick John Moran, a musical theatre actor who just finished touring with the Broadway hit, Something Rotten!
This year, The Refugee Women took second at Regionals, qualifying it for State competition. Maya Radjenovich was named Best Actress, and Diana Ayala was named Best Supporting Actress. At its Regional, I Never Saw Another Butterfly finished fourth. Ana Raycroft was named Best Supporting Actress by the judging panel.
We thank you for attending all of the shows we produce each year. Through donations, ticket sales, flower sales, and concession sales, you are helping keep theatre affordable for everyone and helping us to make these types of opportunities available!
