Notes from the Executive Director
I am extremely proud of this exciting musical production. A truly successful play of this caliber involves so much more than what is produced on stage. The extraordinary level of quality, cooperation, mutual respect, and teamwork demonstrated by everyone involved is admirable. Our cast, stage and music directors, choreographer, sound and lighting director, and team of assistants were committed from the start to create the finest production possible.
The children of YAK were so caught up with the story and songs, they worked like seasoned troupers as they became immersed in the experience of months of rehearsal. They were surrounded by a group of adult players who put egos aside to set an example of discipline and excellence for them to follow. As a result, each child grew in skill, determination, and personal development. Fostering the experiences and accomplishments of the children of our community is our primary goal and reason for the existence of this theater.
I would like to extend my gratitude and thanks to our many supporters and our dedicated team of volunteers, particularly Cissy Thompson, who oversees snack time in the kitchen like a beloved yet strict grandmother. Special thanks to our fabulous Board of Directors, each of whom contributes to the continued maintenance and expansion of this theater. David Berry and Jim Beyer designed and constructed our new dressing room to code, with Sam Woodbery as helper. Chad Blotner installed all the electrical work. Richard Rutherford installed new sound, lighting, and projection equipment, Janet Berry and Kathy Beyer tackled the landscape, weeding and pruning, Tyson Griswold submitted grants and expanded our network, and Allen McCullough, instructed our safety and security codes.
Most of all, I will be eternally grateful for my dear friend and generous benefactor, the late Hilda Pace. Together we formed an alliance that became Mountain Page Theater. Her spirit lives on in all we present, now and in the future. Her dedication to the children of YAK is the legacy she not only leaves but will continue through her lovely daughters, aptly named, Faith and Hope, who have made this commitment.
