Welcome to New York City in the 1930’s!
“Little Orphan Annie” started out as a cartoon comic and has since become one of the most beloved stories and one of the best known musicals. Whether you grew up with the Carol Burnett version or the newest version from 2014, Annie has been a part of popular culture for decades.
Over the past 3 years, we have seen such amazing growth in our Drama community and as that has happened, our ability to take on large productions like Annie has increased. After last year’s production of Rogers and Hammerstein’s Cinderella, I knew that the time was right to continue to grow this program and we decided to perform TWO shows this year. This Fall’s production of The Mousetrap was a great success and the number of students who came out to be a part of this production has been such an amazing benefit to our program.
I am incredibly grateful for the students who have dedicated their time to this production. Having 45 students be a part of this production has provided additional challenges, however, I am incredibly grateful for everyone who has helped in some way to make this program run.
As we continue to grow and continue to take on additional performances and new opportunities, I want to take an opportunity to publicly thank Ms. Carol Hansen for her years of service to the Drama Department. Ms. Hansen had a big part in the design of the stage and the building up of this drama department. I am incredibly grateful for the years we were able to work together on productions and for the many years before I came to MVC. Thank you for the work you did to build this program, build the materials and for the countless hours spent on productions at MVC.
I also want to take time to thank a group of seniors who have been an incredible group to work with. From those who just started with us this year to a senior who has spent the better part of the last 5 years working on each and every production. I will miss these seniors immensely. Thank you for your hard work and dedication.
