The last performance on Mitchell's Potter Street Theatre stage was November 2019 with Colorado Thespian's award winning Kid Simple. Peter and Wendy was supposed to open the second weekend of March 2020, but our world changed days before with a global pandemic.
Mitchell High School, along with theatre companies world wide, were left with empty venues due to restrictions. Covid-19 gave theatre the opportunity to explore other realms, such as prerecorded and live virtual productions through video conferencing. It was an interesting time which allowed for growth in problem solving, creativity, and technology adaptations.
But there is nothing quite like live theatre. The experience allows us to connect on a profound social and emotional level, that a screen never really satisfies.
In a autumn of rebirth of live theatre, Music Theatre International invited our world wide community to partake in a shared experience. All Together Now! is being performed in a limited engagement this weekend only across the globe. With over 2,500 schools and theatres, 5,500 performances will take place in all 50 stages and over 40 countries and territories.
It is with great pride and anticipation that Mitchell High School, in collaboration with Galileo School of Math and Science, we proudly present live theatre to you after two years.
