Editor's Notes
Disney’s Newsie’s Jr. is a shortened version of the 2012 Broadway musical, based on the 1992 film. Inspired by then rousing true story of newsboys in turn-of-the-century New York City, Newsie’s Jr. features a Tony Award winning score by Alan Menken and Jack Feldman and a book by Tony Award winner Harvey Fierstein. When powerful newspaper publishers raise prices at the newsboys’ expense, the charismatic Jack Kelly rallies Newsies from across the city to strike against the unfair conditions. Together, the Newsies learn that they are stronger united and create a movement to fight for what’s right. Newsie’s Jr. is a timeless story full of spirit and heart.
Our students have shown spirit and heart as they have rehearsed this version of Newsies Jr. We have learned a lot about hard work, friendship, and sticking up for what is right. Everyone involved has put their heart and soul into this production and we are excited to share this with you tonight. We would like to thank all of the parent volunteers who have assisted in making this evening possible. You have contributed so many hours of your time for the past four months. It took a village, but the result has been amazing. We are also so proud of all of the students' hard work and effort put into this production. We hope that you will enjoy Millcreek Junior High School's version of Newsies Jr.
