Director's Notes:

No Body Like Jimmy is classified as a black comedy.  Black comedy is a movie, play, or other work that deals with tragic or distressing subject matter in a humorous way. Often in life, we use humor to deflect or make light of serious topics because we don't know how else to handle them.

In the case of No Body Like Jimmy, we have a dead body onstage and most of the characters are not exactly aware of it. When they become aware, they all assume guilt.  As Officer Linda unravels what really happened, the situation becomes more and more ridiculous.

While black comedy is not everyone's taste, the students and I hope that our work on creating larger than life characters will allow you to find a few laughs in the ridiculous situation that Harold and Ralph find themselves in when Harold arrives with a "dead body" and asks to use Ralph's basement to hide it.

One of the genres the students wanted to explore was mystery. After reading multiple scripts, we stumbled upon this relatively unknown gem that combined their desire to work on a mystery AND and play with humor. This was the students' choice for our spring play and we hope that you enjoy the production and see it for the ridiculous comedy that it is meant to be. There truly is "no body like Jimmy".
