FROM THE DIRECTOR
Matilda has astonishing wit, intelligence... and special powers! She's unloved by her cruel parents but impresses her schoolteacher, the highly loveable Miss Honey. Matilda's school life isn't completely smooth sailing, however – the school's mean headmistress, Miss Trunchbull, hates children and just loves thinking up new punishments for those who don't abide by her rules. But Matilda has courage and cleverness in equal amounts and could be the school pupils' saving grace!
I believe it was more than 5 years ago that I learned that Matilda was on the list to be made into a junior version. I’ve been waiting for this moment ever since. Little did I know what an undertaking it would be. Thanks to my power house production team, wonderful parent volunteers and a hard-working dedicated cast, my dream is now reality. I am so proud of this production and thrilled to present it to you all here in our beautiful McCarthy Auditorium.
Thank you just isn’t a big enough word…but alas, my sincere thanks to:
Ms. Mayer—I don’t think I have the words to describe how I feel about all the work you put into this show. The hours and hours; the big things like the back drop! And the little things…like whipping up a phone in 2 minutes. It’s visually stunning and magical. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
My production team-- Lyla Kiloski, Narissa AlDaaya, Lindsay Monke, Kiki Deutschmann and Tyler Gentry You all have knocked it out of the park! And I’ve loved working with you all!
Melissa Brennan, Ginger Skoog, Colleen Marino and Risa DiVincenzo—thank you so much for your time, creativity, pep talks and hard talks, rallying troops, calming the kids (and me), Starbucks deliveries, so quickly saying “I got it” and everything else. There is no show without you all!
Former students who come back to help in whatever ways they can! Uli Skoog and Bex Rogers—the hours and hours. I truly appreciate you both for your hard work! Adam Post and Kristina Reynolds—it was so great to have you back! Thank you for spending a lot of your semester break here at middle school! Maya Belmonte and Maeve McNeal--thank you for working with my cast! Jimmy (James) Pawl—I so enjoyed having you here working on the set!
Tom Peterson and Craig Robertson—THANK YOU FOR MY SWINGS!!!! I appreciate all the time it took to make that happen. Felt like old times with both of you in the house!
Jay Pawl—So grateful for you and your generous heart! The gates are awesome!! Thank you also for all the other things that you had a hand in.
Kurt McPhee, Kerry Calobrisi and the entire office staff for your support throughout this process. I truly appreciate you all!
All of the parent volunteers, in all the big and little ways you contributed to this production. Thank you for everything---but most of all thank you for allowing your kids to be a part of this production. I know the sacrifice it often is to allow your kids to commit to a musical. I hope you will say it was all worth it!
