Mary Poppins - November 20 - November 22, 2015

Mauston High School

 End Notes

Notes from the Director:

When Shrek closed last year, we never could have expected that amount of community support we had.  All anyone wanted to know was what show were we doing this year.  To be honest, we had no idea.  It wasn't until the very last week of school that we came to the decision of Mary Poppins.  And afer going to a few shows to get some ideas, we were scared.  There was a lot of magic, a lot of cast, a lot of dancing, just a lot.  But these kids?  We never should have been worried.  They took their roles, added some accents, and ran without looking back.

You may notice that in our production, we have a Bet, not a Bert.  We wanted to show the fun, imaginative side that Mary Poppins bring where ever she goes.  We looked to highlight the imaginary and tone down the ordinary.  We did that with the character of Bet.  Bet is one of the most magical characters on the stage, even more magical than Mary Poppins.  Bet never has the same job, doesn't interact with people outside of Mary's influence, and helps the Banks children see that Mary Poppins in not only more than she appears, but that they really do stand to learn something from her.  Without her influence, would the Banks fmaily ever progress to more than just a household in shambles? You will have to answer that one.

Finally, a special thank you to all our cast members who have been leaders in this show.  From dance captians to helping with the littles, you are practically perfect in everyway.

To our seniors- I never explain anything.  Enjoy your last run on our stage.  You will be missed more than you know.

Thank you for coming to support our kids.  We hope you enjoy our show.

Mrs. Rachel Tambornino
