Mary Poppins Jr. - March 16 - March 18, 2023

Macopin Middle School

 Director's Note

Last year after Frozen Jr., I had begun thinking about what show I would bring to the Macopin Stage in the following year and initially had a completely different show in mind. One night, Mrs. Z and I were talking about future shows to do and jokingly said, “Imagine we did Mary Poppins next year?” The more we thought about it, the more we realized that Mary Poppins would be a great choice and the idea was born. Once I received the material I realized how big of a task this show would be. Between the large number of songs/dance numbers, the required magical aspects and the British accents, we knew this would be a huge undertaking.

I would like to thank my incredible team without whom this show would not be possible. A huge thank you to Mrs. Ziegenbalg, Mrs. Poat and Mr. Paccione for helping bring this production to the stage. I am honored to get to work with such incredible educators and to get to collaborate with you all each year. It truly takes a village to direct a show and I am thankful to have you all by my side. Another special thank you to Mrs. Kaczor, for being our liaison and always willing to step in and assist wherever needed.

I would also like to thank the wonderful cast and crew of “Mary Poppins Jr.” These students have been working so incredibly hard to bring these characters to life. From auditions and callbacks, I knew that this group would be truly special. They showed such excitement for the material and took everything I threw at them. Even going so far as to show up for auditions with their British accents ready. They went above and beyond throughout this entire production and I am so grateful for all of their help, patience, and trust.

A big thank you to the West Milford Board of Education, Superintendent, Dr. Anemone, MMS Interim Principal, Mary Reinhold, and MMS Assistant Principal, Oliver Pruksarnukul for their continued support.

Lastly, thank you to all of the parents, teachers, and friends who helped make this show possible. Parents, thank you for all of your help, flexibility, and patience. Thank you for all of your support for this production.

I hope you enjoy our production of “Mary Poppins Jr.”
