 End Notes

From the Director:

The sheer cultural impact of The Wizard of Oz cannot be overstated. From the Ruby Slippers, to Somewhere Over the Rainbow, to The Yellow Brick Road, to Scarecrow, Tinman and Lion, to The Wicked Witch, to "there's no place like home," the iconic elements are unparalleled. Throughout this production I have felt a need to "do it justice", and I believe we have done just that.

What is the message of The Wizard of Oz? To me, it's about the importance of the stories we tell ourselves. Do you think you're smart? Compassionate? Brave? Do you care for the people in your life? Whether you said yes or no, you're right.  Why was the wizard so wonderful? Because people thought he was. Why is this piece a classic? Because people know it is. Our beliefs shape our reality.

We all have within us the capacity to be good or wicked. Whatever you believe you are, you are. So choose to believe you're wonderful. And always remember- there's no place like home.
