Well you’ve made it to the class of 2023’s SENIOR CLASS PLAY! In all four years of high school, this is the most time we’ve ever spent together. Think about it…our freshman year was cut short, sophomore year, well it happened (we may not remember what exactly), and junior year was still in the ‘recovery’ phase of Covid. We’ve been through so much and now this is our year.
All of you have taken time out of your day to enjoy the amazing skils of our class. As you may know, we have a pool of talents who have performed in many shows, on many stages and now, in front of you. We also have a huge pool of newbies who, like myself, have never really dabbled in the field of theater, but I will say, we all have had an amazing experience working together.
I am so grateful to get to know the amazing people who have worked along side me hour after tiring hour to get this play done. I have never personally taken on such a role in anything as big as this play, and even though it was hard getting my footing, my directors, producers, and veteran actors stood behind me the whole way and WE GOT IT DONE.
I know most accolades will go to the incredible performances seen tonight, and rightly so, but many can forget the hours and people put into building the set, the key components in a play that allow, you, the audience to immerse yourselves in the world of Mean Girls. You could buy a shirt at Suburban Outfitters, feel the blazing sun of the savannah, and laugh when you see all of our crazy props! After months of work, we’ve done more than we could possibly believe and we hope you all recognize that this play was the culmination of student hardwork. While we did have some fantastic chaperones who supported us throughout this process, the building, casting, blocking and nealy all aspects of the play were student run. It was a complex task, but each individual you see here tonight were accountable and dependable and allowed this play to prosper......
