DIRECTOR'S NOTE:
Whether you’ve seen the iconic 1989 film starring Sally Field and Dolly Parton or the 2012 Lifetime movie starring Queen Latifah and Phylicia Rashad, you can hardly be from the South and not be familiar with Steel Magnolias. The more well known a movie (based on the play), the bigger the challenge for the director to give the audience the expected experience. I assure you that all six of the ladies on the stage are exceptionally talented and able to transform into the iconic characters and delight you in their own unique way.
LTG and I were lucky to have these and other talented women auditioning because there are so many talented actors in the area. In the past 35 years I have directed hundreds of shows, but each one is special and new, especially after the long hiatus of the last 18 months. I am honored to direct my first production at LTG with a fantastic cast and crew - thanks Melanie, Ethan, James, Matt, Anthony. Sit back, relax and be prepared to laugh and cry with the women of Steel Magnolias. Special thanks to Rose and Oriana Palumbo for information on living with diabetes and to Elizabeth Marvin for teaching me how precious a daughter is.
