DIRECTORS' NOTE

April 4th, 2022

Dear Diary,

It has been a full three years since a musical has appeared in the auditorium at Larkin High School. We are so excited to have people back on our stage, singing and dancing their little hearts out. This show has been a challenge on so many levels - its pop/rock score, complex and unyielding acting challenges, lead roles that never stop belting, and more. We couldn't have  done it without the support of everyone on the production team, all the way from the directors to the tech hands who you'll never see, but will undoubtedly provide that backbone that the entire show relies on.

Participating in the fine arts is such a valuable exprience for students. Many people view doing a dramatic produciton as stepping out of a comfort zone; in reality, for a bunch of these students, doing a production is where they feel they belong. Being on stage is their comfort zone, it's the place they feel safe and included. We are so appreciative of all the parents, friends, and family members who provide rides to and from rehearsals, thank you so much!

Heathers has been such a fun show to work on. Whether you're familiar with the Winona Ryder movie or not, you are going to enjoy all the hard work that has gone into this production. It's funny, scary, shocking, silly, and heartfelt all in less than two and a half hours. At its core, Heathers is about fitting in. To what lengths will we go as humans to fit in, and what's the cost? We hope after watching this production, you will have an appropriate answer and we hope that it's beautiful.

Sincerely,

Jack Grosenbach and Frank Rose (directors)
