 DIRECTOR'S NOTE & SCENE ORDER

Director's Note:

When considering shows for this season, I wanted to continue our trend of getting the community talking about the shows we are putting on and ushering in a new generation of LBHS theatre. This show initially stood out to me because it flips what we know about “the rules” of theatre on its head by fully acknowledging the 4th wall for what it truly is – an illusion, a deception, a space between fiction and reality. I also thought this show would be an awesome acting challenge for our ensemble in character building and connection, as most of you are playing multiple roles and are speaking to someone who is not really there. And then at the end… well, you will see what I mean! This being our first fully dramatic piece in many years, I want to work on finding joy throughout the rehearsal process while also understanding the weight of these character’s situations. This show touches on topics of mental health, justice, and imposter syndrome. At the heart of this story is a message about fighting for what you believe in and standing in your truth, despite your own or other people’s doubts. It's about being confident in your abilities and believing the unbelievable. I hope you enjoy the performance, and that you walk away with a different understanding of what theatre can be!
