Tarzan - December 26 - January 04, 2015

KWP Productions

 End Notes

I have always been fascinated with certain stories Camelot and King Arthur, Robin Hood and Tarzan among them. I read the novel Tarzan years ago and fell in love with the story. I watched every Tarzan movie I could including the animated Disney version.  As soon as I found out that they had made Tarzan into a musical I was so excited I knew that someday I would want to do that show. I love the music of Phil Collins and I love the story of Tarzan. So when the rights were released I immediately started lobbying to do the show. It took a couple of years to convince everyone that we could do this and here we are. This is one of my dream shows and I am so excited to be sharing it with you. It has been quite a process, especially as this has been a transition year for KWP with many of our veteren actors leaving and going way to school but we were so excited to be able to find some new talent to step in and join the company. I am incredibly grateful to this cast and crew for putting on this incredibly physically and emotionally demanding show. They have given it their all and I love them for that. I thank my husband who puts up with all the insanity and is always there to provide support and be a sounding board.  Thanks to my children who put up with me being gone so much, who have theater in their blood and love it almost as much as we do and I share this with them.  I want to thank Helen for always hanging in there, for being another sounding board, for giving everything she has to this company and to the show and she makes these kids look and sound wonderful and I appreciate it so much. There are so many people that make this dream a reality I will think them separately and if I don't thank them in the playbill I know they know in my heart that I am eternally grateful for everything they do to make this company a reality and for allowing us to teach, to guide, to encourage and support these young actors on the journey that life will take them. Part of our efforts with this show have been wildlife conservation. We adopted a gorilla from the WWF and named him Collins. He appears in the show and will be raffled off after the run. One of the themes of this show is about sharing our world, about being one family.  I truly believe that we are family with nature and we are a family of man and we must coexist together as one. Another theme in Tarzan very dear to my heart is the love of family and the definition of family. This is an important core value at KWP Productions. We are a family. So it is fitting that we do a show about love and the meaning of family and where you belong.
