Shrek The Musical Jr - January 24 - January 25, 2020

John F. Kennedy School

 A Note from Our Director

Welcome to our show, Shrek the Musical Jr!  The 5th grade students at JFK have been working diligently since October to create this production. For most students, this is a brand new experience. We have worked on studying and performing lines, dancing in a group, and singing - including solos! They have been an amazing group of learners and performers! I am extremely proud of these very talented 5th graders.

Our production would not be possible without the support of the JFK CAPT for funding, and our 5th grade musical coordinators – Jamie Mihaich, Jen Casey, Nichola Gallagher, Danielle MacIsaac, Catherine Hoberg, Ellen McGrath and Danielle Ripple. They have spent many hours with set and costume design, designing the playbill, helping out at rehearsals, and promoting our show among the Canton community. You are all amazing! Thank you for making this such a great experience for the students.

I want to thank and acknowledge Emma Carlson and Ariba Khwaja. Emma has spent endless hours working with our singers. Ariba has been working with students on their diction, volume, and expression. It’s been a pleasure to see these students grow as performers. Because of you, students have had such a memorable experience. This year we had two students work as choreographers as well – Maeve Lehan and Charly Touzos. Great job both of you!

Also, I want to thank Anne Grady and the entire high school stage crew for coordinating, helping with sets and equipment that we needed. Thank you to Mrs. McMahon and the entire JFK family who have supported us with planning our show. Many hands went into creating this production!

Congratulations 5th graders on a wonderful show! And always remember… “Let your freak flag fly!”
