Note from the Director, Kyle Broady
When I started this job just over a year ago, I could not have possibly imagined what that year would bring. I probably do not have to tell you what a challenge it has been, but I do want to tell you how rewarding this production has been in light of what we have been through.
2020 dealt some crushing blows to the performing arts and had a devastating impact on many students in theater, choir, and band. Even though we returned to school this past summer, we were not able to sing in class and we were unsure of what we would be permissible or safe to do as the year unfolded. But through perseverance and patience, I witnessed students being more driven and resilient than I could have dreamed and what they accomplished is nothing short of astounding. Even after having to cancel the show twice, they never gave up. Despite everything, the arts have prevailed and as time has gone on we have finally been able to present our work to a community longing for a return of this type of artistic expression.
I want to thank you for continuing to support the performing arts in southern Indiana so that young people like the ones in this cast can continue to bring vibrancy and joy in a time when it is so needed. Your generosity and encouragement goes a long way to ensuring we can do this for generations to come. I look forward to many future productions and hearing what the next crop of students will bring to the table, but only if we keep fanning the flames and banding together to keep the arts alive. Tell these students any chance you get how proud you are of them and celebrate them publicly as much as possible. And know how much they and I appreciate it and how much we all appreciate you.
