Seedfolks: Reader's Theater - October 11

Indiana Connections Academy

  Director's Notes

Welcome to our special performance of "Seedfolks"!

When we first decided to bring this story to life, I had no idea how much it would remind me of our own school community at INCA—and how it would grow into something truly meaningful for all of us.

Working with the high school Drama Club to prepare this production has been an incredible journey. We’ve got a cast that reflects the diversity and spirit of Seedfolks itself—students with different backgrounds, talents, and stories to tell. It’s been amazing to watch them collaborate, support each other, and dig into the heart of this story about a garden that brings people together. And, just like the characters in the book, our students have shown that when you work together, you can create something beautiful.

But what makes today even more special is that we’re sharing this with YOU—our middle school friends! We’re planting a little seed of our own here, a connection between our schools that we hope will continue to grow. You read "Front Desk", a story about the strength of family, friendship, and community, and we think you’ll find that "Seedfolks" carries those same themes.

The garden in "Seedfolks" starts as a broken-down lot. By the end of the story, it’s a place where people feel safe, valued, and connected—a lot like what we’ve seen as we’ve come together to put on this show. In a way, our Drama Club has become a little garden, each of us planting seeds of creativity, laughter, and hard work, and watching it all blossom into this performance.

Thank you for being a part of this today!

We’re so excited to share our work with you, and we hope that through this story, you’ll see how important it is to keep growing—together.

Enjoy the show!
