Note from the Director
When we first announced our season back in February, we had already selected the theme "New Perspectives." Little did we know just how much our perspective on many things would change over the next few months. As COVID-19 forced radical changes within the theatre community, we were challenged to look at performing arts from a variety of new perspectives.
I am happy to report that our HUTC students and staff more than rose to the challenge. Although there were a number of setbacks, hiccups, and stumbles along the way, I am so proud of the way they not only cared for themselves and others, but of the beautiful piece of art they have created for all of you.
Henrietta Leavitt was groundbreaking, not because she discovered something previously unseen, but because she was able to look at something ancient--the stars--from a new perspective. It is my hope that this generation of theatre artists will use their experiences this year as a springboard for looking at everything they do with fresh eyes, always looking for the different perspective and ways to bring the art they love to new audiences.
Only God knows how long the physical distancing of our society will last, but it is our hope that through this performance, you will feel connected to the other audience members--those in the theatre and those watching from afar--and remember that we are one body: a body of theatre lovers, and the body of Christ.
Blessings,
