Thank you so much for attending HARP's performance of "Grease: School Edition!!" I have truly enjoyed working with this positive and dedicated group of young performers. There is just something special about the music and characters of "Grease" and the nostalgic 50's era that is so engaging. From the saddleshoes, to the poodle skirts and fun fashions, to the iconic dance styles... the sheer fun is simply undeniable!!
We really wanted this show to be accessible to the whole family, so you will notice that we opted for a version that is described as "School Edition." The plot is very similar to the original stage show and the songs are all of our favorites, but it has been edited to make the whole family feel welcome.
I am so fortunate to work with such a great team for the HARP musical each year. I especially want to thank my musical partner and dear friend, Wendy Jo Nagy, for all of her efforts in preparing for this outstanding show. Her energy and enthusiasm are infectious and she always brings our singers to their best vocal performances. We are very fortunate to have her hubby, Tom Nagy, on board as our pit orchestra director for "Grease." We thank him for adding his great musical theater and performance experience to our show! In addition, I want to thank our choreographer, Melissa Baser, for all of her efforts in preparing the students. This show is full of fun, but challenging dance moves and she truly has the ability to show our dancers all of the right moves! Finally, I want to thank our new set designer, Jackie Settimio, for her vision and talented set design.
In addition, I would like to recognize several students who have helped to make the show a success. First, our student choreographer, Daria Van Allman has been an instrumental member of the production team. She choreographed the songs "We Go Together." "Freddy My Love" and "Beauty School Drop-out." I know that she poured her heart and soul into these numbers and the cast really appreciated her excellent dedication!! Congrats Daria!! In addition, I want to recognize our student directors, Reaghan Fitch and Elizabeth Catalano who were a driving force behind the success of this show. Everything that they do is behind the scenes, but they are amazingly organized and patient (especially with me!!)
Finally, a giant "Thank You" to all of the parents that helped out with set construction, ticket sales, raffles, cast party and promoting the show!! Thank you especially to Diane VanAllman and Billy Jo Haines who serve as our HAMPA Drama Co- Vice Presidents.
Enjoy the show and thank you for your continued support of the Arts!!
