A Note from the Director
Balance. Balance is evident in everything we do, or at least trying to find the right balance. Balancing grading papers with rehearsals, balancing nurturing young actors with teaching them how to handle disappointment, balancing the choice of comedies with socially conscious work, balancing fun with hard work and balancing even our choice of productions within every student’s four years with us is a part of this big theatrical life.
I cannot thank enough the over 120 that it takes to put on a show like this: actors, musicians, dancers, builders, artists, costumers, technicians and more. Our actors would be in the dark, naked, on a bare stage. Our techies would be building and moving furniture for no reason. I would be ranting like a lunatic in an empty auditorium (not that it hasn’t happened!). This seems like sanity, perhaps, but we’ve all found our thing, our passion, our inner light, our (thank you, City Slickers) smile. “Don’t Stop Believin’” that you can and will find yours, but for most of us “The Search is Over.”
A great big thanks goes out to the hardest working parent organization: Parents for Drama. Our new president, Alyson Hussey, has taken the reins to steer us through this journey. My undying thanks, as well, to Michelle Ayer who has been indispensable in so many ways, but particularly through this transition. Please consider joining them, along with the many other parents that already work so hard, to make the parents organization soar with success.
Love and thanks goes to all of my colleagues that work so diligently alongside me and for the students: Christopher Landis, Mike Doherty, Liz Tronni, Mauren Fish, and Alysia Campbell. We wholeheartedly welcome our new head of set construction, Mr. Rorie Malerbi, into our faculty and drama family. Having you all on this journey with me makes it even sweeter; and, no doubt, I’ll “Keep on Lovin’ You” long after it’s over.
On behalf of all the students in the cast, the orchestra and all the tech crews – thank you for your support and well wishes. Feel free to tap your toes and clap your hands while enjoying our show.
