    Director

    Elise Short (Director) is making her directing debut at Highlands Lakeside Theatre after going to school for her BFA in Musical Theatre at Florida Atlantic University. Elise has participated in many productions here at HLT since 2008 and is happy to be making her way back to her roots. Her recent credits as a director are Assistant Director for A Higher Place in Heaven at HLT, Clue: On Stage at HLT, Richard III at FAU, Directing Counselor for Xanadu Jr. at HLT, and Acting Director for Savannah Sipping Society this past June. She recently won an "Outstanding Acting" Award for being in the one-act Head of the Family written by Laura Wade, which also won best play at the Florida Theatre Conference. Elise is grateful to her friends and family for their love and support, always.

    Laura Wade

    Assistant Director

    Laura Wade (Assistant Director) is a Highlands County native and a 32-year veteran of HLT.  She holds a BFA in Performing Arts from the University of Louisiana, (Geaux Cajuns!) and attended the MFA Acting Pedagogy program at the University of Alabama (Roll Tide!). She has been a part of over 150 productions in community, professional and academic theatre. Her greatest passions in theatre are teaching young people and playwriting.  Her directing credits include The Million Dollar Quartet, Noises Off, Romeo and Juliet (twice), Charlie Brown, Grease (twice), Little Shop of Horrors, Steel Magnolias, A Streetcar Named Desire, Dancing at Lughnasa (FTC Competition), Little Girl Blou (AACT Competition), as well as numerous Summer Theatre Institute productions. She dedicates all of her work to her husband, Eric, for being “the coolest thing around”.

    Production Coordinator

    Suzanne Schilffarth (Production Coordinator) enjoys being a part of the HLT family. She directed The Dixie Swim Club, has performed inArsenic and Old Lace, and Steel Magnolias, stage managed the production of Grease, and directed Men of Mahjongg in the Thakkar Pavilion. She enjoys the variety of roles such as Production Coordinator and Assistant Director that one can experience as a member and volunteer at Highlands Lakeside Theatre. She will always be grateful to HLT for the companionship and support of its members.
