From the Director's Chair
Putting together The Wiz is a daunting challenge. There are a lot of difficult but beautiful songs in this show. It came as a pleasant surprise to me that we had so many talented students come to our auditions. In addition, I have had the help of many talented students, staff, and professionals in putting this production together.
From our choreographer, Ms. Johnson and all her talented dancers to our music director, Mr. Meeks and all the musicians putting in extra time and effort. To Ms. Blackburn, Dr. Bell, and Ms. Williams and our Costumer Ms. Adler, and all their extra efforts and to our vendors and their professionalism, I am grateful. A special thanks to Ms. Arenas for her contrubutions!
The arts, any of the arts, boil down to a collaborative process. A production cannot succeed without the work of many.
Paul Newman said," Nothing ever gets done except by people with a passion. I know that as difficult as it is to put a show together, this group is passionate. Most of the cast is new to performing. For some, this is their first show. They have shown their true talents and made this production easier to undertake. I hope The Wiz is as fun for you to watch as it was for us to put together.
