Kyle Holmes
Playwright
Kyle Holmes is an educator, director and playwright. He spent almost a decade as the Director of Theater Arts at Granite Bay High School in Northern California where his students went on to create art in Southern California, New York, and across the United States. He currently works with school districts receiving Title I funding to create equitable opportunities in California schools. As a playwright, he wrote the book for Ranked, A Musical. He is a member of the Dramatists Guild of America, and a proud alumni of artEquity's first National Board Training Cohort. www.kpholmes.com

David Taylor Gomes
Composer
David Taylor Gomes is a Composer, Musical Director, Actor, and Educator best known for writing the music and lyrics for Ranked, A Musical and Boxed Up: The Musical. His voice students have performed on Broadway, national tours, The Disney Channel, and many regional theatres across the US. But what happens when the rest of the world finds out?
Ranked tells the story of a future where high school students' academic status is publicized and creates an intense competition with students fighting their way to the top of the leaderboard. The story's creators, Kyle Holmes and David Taylor Gomes, both high school teachers, wanted to highlight the enormous pressure that students today are under, and after speaking with their students, they came up with the story of Ranked. Ranked debuted in April of 2018, just weeks after the college admissions scandal took the nation by storm. It has received critical acclaim and is currently being produced by high schools across the country because of the way it resonates with students. It is also the focus of the 2022 HBO feature documentary, My So Called High School Rank.
