A native of Beaufort’s Sea Islands, Anita Singleton Prather is the founder & artistic director of the Gullah Kinfolk Traveling Theater. A gifted storyteller, singer, and playwright, she has written and produced 5 plays and numerous musical works. Her projects include Tales from the Land of Gullah and Circle Unbroken: Gullah Journey from Africa to America, aired nationwide on PBS. She co-created an award-winning children’s website with SCETV featuring her animated character, Aunt Pearlie Sue, and curated a 20,000 sq. ft. interactive Gullah exhibition with the Children’s Museum of Houston. Prather has appeared on CNN's United Shades of America and The Cooking Channel sharing Gullah culture and cuisine. With degrees in psychology and education from Howard University and USC, Prather is “South Carolina’s Ambassador of Gullah History & Culture” educating and entertaining audiences worldwide about the rich Gullah heritage through the arts.
Raul Bradley*

Born in Columbia, SC, Raul Carson Bradley dedicated his life to education, ministry, and preserving the Gullah culture. A proud graduate of C.A. Johnson High School and Claflin University, he earned his master’s in education administration from South Carolina State University. After serving honorably in the U.S. Army, Raul became an educator in Colleton, Hampton, Horry, and Allendale counties, where he shaped countless young minds. Raul’s passion for the Gullah heritage was evident in his involvement with Aunt Pearlie Sue and Gullah Kinfolk where he performed for more than 10 years. While he has not been able to perform of late, his performances were “110% from the heart!”. He also appeared in PBS’s Gullah Roots, promoting cultural preservation. A Life Member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., Raul also pastored a church in Colleton County. Through his work and travels, Raul championed the Gullah legacy, ensuring its vibrancy for generations to come.
