A NOTE FROM THE DIRECTORS:
Hello! Thank you all so much for coming to Honk! Jr. For the past three years, Mr. Burch has allowed high schoolers to direct a middle school musical for their senior project. This has been such an incredibly rewarding opportunity and we can not thank everyone enough for all the help we have had throughout this production. The students have put a lot of time and effort into this production and we know that they are excited to show you all the hard work that they have onto the stage!
We decided on this particular show because of the important message that it invokes about perseverance. As the story begins, Ugly is immediately rejected by everyone from the barnyard except his mother, Ida, because of his physical appearance. He is soon taken away by the Cat and becomes lost. Throughout his journey, Ugly had many moments where he could have easily given up and lost all hope in finding his way back to the barnyard. Instead, he decided to carry on and "hold his head up high." In our lives, we tend to give up so easily. We have to learn that no matter what happens, we have to keep moving forward and never lose sight of what is truly important.
A special shoutout to Taylor Crampton, Sydney Meiller, Dillon White, all the parent volunteers and of course, Mr. Burch for being supportive every step of the way and making this show possible. Finally, thank you to everyone who has come to support the cast and crew of Honk! Jr. in portraying this incredible and exciting message of Hans Christian Anderson's "The Ugly Duckling." Enjoy the show!
Sincerely,
Jack Paone & Heather Carter
