Zombie Prom - April 18 - April 26, 2014

George Washington High School

 Directors Note

Cheese.

This was the main element that went into this show. The script alone is cheesy enough, however we wanted to add it all on. Funny enough, during auditions, we told all auditioners before they came in they needed to understand the cheesiness we wanted. We ended up doing a visual spectrum of all the shows we've had this year with Antony and Cleopatra being at the end of the spectrum that isn't funny, Hairspray at a pretty moderate cheesiness level, and finally Zombie Prom all the way at the other end of the spectrum that the amount of cheese you would have by then, would have you covered in Velveeta. We used the cheesiness as a way to make out show stand out; with the actors doing  over exaggerated movements or the technical elements having a bigger and better everything. Our show is made to be unique to stand out from any other shows we have done here at George Washington, and to be unique from the other contenders in the Bobby G Awards in which we entered this show in.

The Bobby G Awards are the Tony Awards for Colorado high school shows to put it simply. We are very proud to have entered this show in because of all the hard work our actors, designers, our musical director, our choreographer, our orchestra, and Mrs. O'Clair and myself have dedicated and put time into the making of Zombie Prom.

The making of Zombie Prom has been such an extraordinary experience. This show didn't have their set positions, where only lights crew worked on lights, or only sound crew did sound, or orchestra stay to their orchestra territory. In all honesty, this was a combined effort where everyone gave a helping hand to someone in need. It made this show feel like less of a show and more of a family. To be able to witness a beautiful show like Zombie Prom start from nothing and transform into something beautiful was truly a blessing to be a part of. I am incredibly proud of every single person involved in this show, and I am very excited for you to see the magic and cheesiness we have put into this production.

Enjoy the show!
