High School is the time in everyone’s life to explore and spread your wings. High School Musical explores how stereotypical groups like “jocks, brains, nerds, pops and skaters” are formed into young adults. High School students “find themselves” by what they do in high school. Like sports, performing arts teaches the importance of teamwork, critical thinking and problem solving.
Tonight you will see the collaboration, teamwork, trust, and creative expression by a group of dynamic students. From our youngest performer to our most seasoned actor, each of them has learned that individual expression is the key to every successful group! This is a skill set that will carry all our students far beyond high school. At Freedom High School, we set high expectations for our Fine Arts students, and tonight these students have delivered. I could not be more proud of these student artists and this production.
Our annual musical theatre production brings together the best and brightest of our Fine Arts students. I want to express my most sincere appreciation and thanks to my fellow collaborators for their amazing abilities: Mr. Paul Meckel, Technical Director; Ms. Heather Foster, Musical Director; and Ms. Grace Martin, Choreographer. The quality of this show would not be the same without each of you. Thank you for sharing, suggesting, and expressing your creativity throughout this entire process.
The students featured in tonight's performance are on loan from some of the best and most supportive parents I’ve ever had the pleasure to work with. I want to thank you for raising such dedicated, loyal, and talented human beings. I am aware of the sacrifices you make and I only hope that I have been able to give something back to you and your students.
Finally, to the cast and crew of HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL: Thank you for allowing me to fulfill my dream of creating magic in the theatre. I am your biggest fan and thank you for your willingness to create a world that even Walt Disney would be proud of. I hope this journey will live long in your heart and never forget that “we’re all in this together!"
