Good evening and welcome to First Congregational Church UCC of Randolph’s production of Stephen Sondheim’s, “Into The Woods”. This show will mark our 8th production in 10 years. In celebration of our decade old Theater Company, this show was chosen by the Company.
We held an open casting call and included an additional 19 performers to an original cast of 18. I mention this because I never would have dreamed 10 years ago that our cast of 10 14-17 year olds would have grown to a cast of 37, with 3 of our original members - Aaron Cohen, Madison Christian and Rachel Robicheau - still involved, and that our little theater company would be reaching well into the surrounding theater community.
What a ministry we have cultivated here. Creating a place where young adults who otherwise might be looking in from the margins can be seen, can have a voice, and can have a place where they are loved and, in turn, share that love with others. This is not your typical community theater. I would challenge you to speak with any of this talented and experienced cast, and they will tell you the same.
As we travel through Sondheim's somewhat twisted take on some of our beloved fairy tales, Cinderella sings, “Nothing’s quite so clear now…. Feel you’ve lost your way…. You move just a finger…. Say the slightest word…. Something’s bound to linger…. Be heard….No one is alone.”
A wonderfully apropos message from a wonderful cast.
Please enjoy the show!
