The Wizard of Oz - April 15 - April 24, 2016

  From the Directors:

“Follow the yellow brick road” to the award winning musical fantasy  the Wizard of Oz, an American family favorite.  When a tornado rips through Kansas, Dorothy and her dog, Toto, are whisked away in their house to the magical land of Oz.  After being told by Glinda, the Good Witch of the North, that their only chance of returning to Kansas is to ask the Great and Powerful Wizard of Oz for help, they follow the Yellow Brick Road to the Emerald City to meet this Wizard.  En route they meet a Scarecrow who needs a brain, a Tin Man  missing a heart, and a Cowardly Lion who wants courage.  Along the way their journey is disrupted by the Wicked Witch of the West. To earn his help, the wizard asks the group to do what they believe to be an impossible task:  bring him the broom of the Wicked Witch of the West.

At the beginning of the school year, many of our cast members  were hesitant to tackle a project of this magnitude.  But this show has allowed our actors to discover, embrace and celebrate their own strengths.   The cast found that, in the words of Mary Anne Radmacher when referring to the Cowardly Lion:  “Courage doesn’t always roar.  Sometimes courage is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying, ‘ I will try again tomorrow.’”  As the wise Wizard of Oz himself says, “You’ve always had the power, my dear.  You just had to learn it for yourself.”  We as directors were constantly amazed by the talent, enthusiasm and energy each actor brought to the show.  We are so proud of all they have accomplished.

This show would not have been possible without the dedication of the cast and crew and the generosity of their parents.  To the audience, thank you so much for all of your support!
