Seussical holds a very special place in my heart. I saw an amazing production of it that impacted much of my college theatre training. It was also the first musical that I ever directed. And the music and themes still move me today. When planning the first youth theatre production for Empty Space Artistry, I knew it needed to be Seussical Jr. But ultimately at the heart of Seussical, and at the heart of every story, are examples of Biblical truths. When I really think about it, at the core, those are the things that resonate so deeply with me. That’s what’s amazing about truth - it’s everywhere. God uses everything in life to teach us if we have eyes to see, ears to hear, and hearts to receive. That was my prayer for the cast and crew as we journeyed through this show. And that is my prayer for you, as an audience member. Yes, God is in Bible stories, but He’s also in this story (and every story). He is the God of all. And I pray that we will all learn to see Him more through this production.
Thank you for being here and supporting these incredible kids! It has been a joy to get to know the cast, crew, and the immensely supportive families that surround them! For many of these kids, it is their first time back on stage after a hiatus from theatre. What a celebration to welcome them back into the spotlight! On behalf of us all, we hope you enjoy the show!
