Director's Note...
For a show taking place over 100 years ago, “Newsies” is certainly timely and teaches a valuable lesson. Worries over worldwide pandemics, the state of our environment, and political unrest throughout the world leave many feeling hopeless about the future.Throughout the events of our show, the Newsies grow from feeling defeated by the situation they are in to becoming empowered to make a change, “once and for all!” It has been an honor to work with a group of likeminded and passionate people on this production, all of us determined to bring the story of the 1899 Newsboy Strike to life. We hope to inspire and empower our audience to make positive changes in their own lives. As Katherine sings in “Watch What Happens,” “Just look around at the world we’re inheriting and think of the one we’ll create!” The possibilities are endless with grit and determination. We hope you enjoy the show!
