Emma Czaplinski - Director
Emma is thrilled to be directing this summer’s ECT production of “Newsies!” While this is her first time working with ECT, she is no stranger to Ellington. Emma is a Language Arts teacher at Ellington Middle School as well as the assistant director of the EMS Drama Troupe. Most recently, she directed Willy Wonka, Jr. with many of the same actors you will see tonight! She is originally from Meriden and often performs there as a part of Castle Craig Players. Favorite roles include Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz, Jenny in Company, Maria in The Sound of Music, and Missy in The Marvelous Wonderettes. Emma would like to thank the dream team - Rachel, Susan, and Bri - for being amazing throughout this whole process, the ECT board for bringing her along for the fun, and all her past, present, and future students that have taken part in bringing this show to life!

Rachel Ballasy - Choreographer
Rachel Ballasy is a dynamic performer, director, and choreographer whose talents have been on display from the midway (Hersheypark) to the main stage, when she isn't singing with the harmonious confection, The Sugartones. She was on stage most recently as a part of the Hot Music ensemble's Getting Back to [Show] Business, Blue Fire Stage's The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee (Olive Ostrovsky) and directing/choreographing Schoolhouse Rock Live Jr. "Choreographing Newsies stretched me further than any show I've choreographed prior, and I couldn't be prouder of all of my DANCERS in this production. Shout out to Emma, Bri and Susan for being the best creative team ever and many thanks to my family for supporting me along the way. Enjoy the show!"
