Mission Project

The East Brainerd Community Theater gives back to the community by asking our cast and crew, as well as our audience, to help support a non-profit organization in our area. We are supporting the Chattanooga Area Food Bank for the 2019 season. 

The mission of the Chattanooga Area Food Bank is to lead a network of partners in eliminating hunger and promoting better nutrition in our region. They serve 20 counties, which gives them 136,960 opportunities to change a life.

The Food Bank can provide 4 meals with $1 based on their purchasing power and donations. They say that 1 hour of volunteer service equals 92 meals. If they had to pay staff to do the work that volunteers do, it would take 15 full time staff which would really cut into the services provided. 

In addition, to raise money for this important cause, we will ask for audience donations during each show (before the show and at intermission). As in the past, audience members can vote for their favorite cast member(s) by making a contribution to the Chattanooga Area Food Bank. The audience casts their vote(s) by placing their donations in the cast member’s personalized container.

Each night the cast member/character who has the most donations is the winner. The winner will be announced after curtain call for each performance. All proceeds will be donated to the Chattanooga Area Food Bank. Don’t forget to encourage your friends and family to vote for you AND to support our mission!
