EHS Theatre for All

 A NOTE ABOUT THE SHOW

If you've never been to a Theatre for All show, "Welcome!" You are in for a new, wonderful experience. This is a unified class and show, meaning we combine "special education" students with "general education" students. Students are paired up and work on a partnership model, creating their role and part together. Every partnership is unique and is developed over the course of the semester.

If you've been to a Theatre for All show before, "Welcome Back!" We've done something a little different this semester. Instead of producing a "book" show, a traditional musical, we are performing a revue, a selection of songs from different musicals. Also different to this show, besides partners, everyone has a group.

Each group in the class was responsible for staging and choreographing their own, small group number, and one large group number for the entire class. Except for two songs in this show, and of course some tweaking by the directors, everything has been conceived and created by the students. The students came up with their concepts and ideas for the dancing, costumes, and props. Be sure to ask your child what they contributed to the show.

There have been so many valuable takeaways from our shows, but probably none as poignant as SHREK THE MUSICAL.  The line that has always stuck out for us is “What makes us special, makes us strong.”  This Spring, students in ArtWork Studio have been learning about the civil rights movement for people with disabilities and the rights afforded to them by the creation of Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).  As part of this learning experience students worked together to sew our own copy of the Disability Pride Flag which you will see proudly waved in our closing number-Freak Flag.

Truly, the students own this show!
