Cabaret (1998 Version) - November 10 - November 19, 2017

Dutchess Community College

 PFA Chairperson's Note

Our A.S. Performing Arts Program achieved artistic success at DCC and throughout the community. Choir and orchestral performances, dance concerts, children’s theatre presentations, original one-act play presentations, and classic theatrical productions received glowing reviews at DCC, in the local grade schools, at Barnes and Nobles booksellers, at senior centers, and Off-Off Broadway in NYC. Our students experienced the gift of performing in award-winning plays and musicals, while our audiences reaped the benefits of their developing talents.

DCC’s A.S. degree in Performing Arts is tailored to the individual needs of each student. Aside from the required liberal arts general education courses, various classes are selected in Music, Theatre and/or Dance to assist the student in transferring to a four-year college and/or pursuing her/his career goals. Our students have transferred to colleges like SUNY New Paltz, SUNY Purchase, SUNY Oswego, SUNY Binghamton, Marist, Mt. St. Mary, Marymount, Bard College, and various conservatories like AMDA. Past play productions include A View from the Bridge, A Chorus Line, Twelfth Night, Grease, The Laramie Project, Pippin, Dark of the Moon, Gross Indecency: The Three Trials of Oscar Wilde, Fame, Urinetown, Rent, The Wedding Singer, The Complete Works of William Shakespeare Abridged, and various choral, orchestral, and dance concerts.

DCC has the lowest tuition in New York state, top quality teachers, and small class sizes. For more information about registering as a full- or part-time student in the Performing Arts degree program, please contact DCC’s Admissions Office at (845) 431-8010.

DCC’s Masquers’ Guild Theatre Club has been producing plays nearly since the inception of the College. They meet Thursdays at 12:30 p.m. in Dutchess Hall room 205. Past productions include Prelude to a Kiss, A Streetcar Named Desire, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, The Fantasticks, Fifth of July, Hair, Brighton Beach Memoirs, Psycho Beach Party, Proof, and their Twenty-Four-Hour Original Ten-Minute Play Festival and annual music revue fundraiser for Broadway Cares Equity Fights AIDS. Membership is open to any matriculated DCC student.

Whether we are presenting a cutting-edge, large-scale musical production like Cabaret or acting class scenes, music juries, and dance concert previews; DCC is the place to be for the performing arts.
