If you haven't heard the story...
Almost a year ago when Tolar, Kahn and I were brainstorming musicals, The Addams Family was actually brought up, and we talked about how exciting it would be to do a show that no one else had done yet. I was sad to find out it was not yet released, so we chose another show and had been preparing and working on that for months. Over the holiday break, I saw an email about an exciting announcement from the company that owns the rights to The Addams Family, and I immediately wrote them and begged to do it. Somehow we were lucky enough to get permission two months before everyone else. Needless to say, we jumped on the chance to make history and changed ALL of our well made plans as quickly as possible.
This show has been exciting, exhausting, and filled with new challenges. I keep thinking that my job will get easier the longer I do it, but no matter how many times I do this, it always seems nearly impossible. Yet every time the kids, production team, and I somehow manage to pull it together. I have such an incredible group of kids this year. It gives me hope to see such drive and talent in my 9th and 10th graders. It pushes my seniors to not rest on their laurels and it keeps this crazy-talented program moving forward.
To my Seniors, I am eager to see all the wonderful things you will achieve, but it is so hard to see you go.
To all my classes, you put up with my insanity and the 200 things going on in my brain at any given moment, and I appreciate you being along for the ride! I hope you learned something along the way. :)
To the ladies in the front office, thank you for saving me a thousand times. You are all so supportive and wonderful to me and the program.
CCHS Administration, thank you for dealing with this insane building and my...."energetic" students.
CCHS Faculty, any of you that are reading this and came to see the show, you have no idea what it means to me and to the kids to see you here supporting what we do. Thank you.
To Sterling, what a great addition you are to this department. I hope we can do it again...and again and again!
To Luis B., Mr. Marin, Linda, Megan, Jena, McKenzie, and Mr. Reussow, THANK YOU for all the hours you have put in to help the theatre program and this show with no compensation other than all the thanks I can give.
Donna, Caitlin, Xan, and Katie please stop hating me. You can have your husbands back now. They changed hundreds of kids lives in this process and your donation of them is immeasurable.
Lamos, Kahn, Gilliam, and Tolar, you are my brothers. There is NO other school like ours in this county with the collaboration we have. I am so lucky to have you as my true school family and I appreciate you all more than you know.
Ken Nicholson, your are my teacher, my friend, my hardest worker, and my brother. You do it all for these kids, and you haven't had a child in attendance at this school in years, yet you keep showing up to help. I can't repay you for all that you do.
Mrs. Hilton, WOW! We are SO lucky that you came to us! The support, understanding, forgiveness, and generosity you have shown me is overwhelming. Cypress Creek High School is blessed to have you here to make this a better place for every student and faculty member. Thank you 1000 times.
Erin and Emilia you see me the least of all these people on this thank you list, yet you still love me the most. You are so patient with me and love me unconditionally. By the time you read this I'll be back in your life and won't be working 14 hour days or weekends anymore...well, except for the drama banquet, and the student directed show, and the theatre rentals in May, and my IB training over the summer, and the planning for next year’s shows....but other than that, I'm totally free....The point is, I love you.
Enjoy the show! -Mr. Williams
