Of all the shows I've directed, this has been the one I've been most excited to bring to life. It's such a creative and whimsical, yet meaningful, story that is so iconic. There's something magical at work here. My favorite kind of theatre is theatre that dreams big, that enchants the audience with the world it creates. And this show does just that. I enjoy directing shows that allow the audience to just come to the theater and simply be entertained. It may not solve all the world's social issues, it may not provoke deep and serious contemplative thoughts, but it allows you to come and enjoy yourself and escape from the outside world. That's what theatre is for me: an escape from reality. This show is extra special because it has heartfelt messages of kindness, family, and happiness all wrapped up in one fabulous, enchanting musical package that capitvates you.
One of my favorite songs in this show is "Feed the Birds" with such a beautiful yet simple melody, it also has a simple message. The Bird Woman teaches Jane and Michael a lesson in kidness. It only takes tuppence a bag, two pence, to feed the birds, and it bring the birds so much joy. I think this is a great reminder that it doesn't take much to be kind to others and show love. Even small acts of gratitude can make a difference on someone's day. In a world where we get lost in being so self centered, small gestures of kindness, rather than monetary transactions, fill our lives with joy, satisfaction, and meaning.
Curtain Up Theatre Camp started as just an idea that I had a few summers aftere a summer theatre camp that I had done all throughout my childhood stopped, and I had the desire to pass on the magic that that camp gave me and bring it to other kids who had just as much passion for theatre and performing as I did. The fact that we are now on our third production with more kids than ever, and have added two more camps due to popularity, just absolutely blows my mind. I am so greatful to my entire team for helping me bring this dream to life and putting in so many hours to make this something special. I am especially greatful for Julie Lund, my amazing partner in crime for agreeing to embark on this adventure with me. I've know Julie since I was in preschool, she was my elementary music teacher and taught me piano lessons, and the fact that she is still here after three summers with me is a testament to what an amazing teacher, music lover, person, and friend she is. I'm so thankful that Julie didn't just laugh me off when I initially brought the idea to her, even though she may have thought I was crazy ;) she put her heart and and soul into creating the best summer theatre camp expirience with me. As Mary says, "Anything can happen if you let it.'

I am so thrilled to be a part of this production. Mary Poppins was one of the first movies I saw as a little girl on the big screen. I still remember the magic and cleverness of the music.
The dedication of these actors is phenomenal and I loved watching them grow as the days progressed. Please enjoy and thank you.
