This production is based on the real story of the life of Annie Oakley, a woman way before her time and one of the first icons of women's rights before it was popular. Her ability came out of necessity, to make a living for herself and her siblings. She was an expert shot before Buffalo Bill discovered and hired her for his Wild West Show, which made her famous. In order to be true to her character, it was my decision, with the permission of Mr. Teran, CISD Superintendent and the help of Mr. Randy Rister, Chief School Safety Officer, to use real antique rifles in this show.
Whatever your personal thoughts on firearm safety in and out of the home, this story would not be true to the author's purpose if we did not use real rifles. There is no live ammunition in any gun. The firing mechanism on the guns has been decommissioned and they have been certified safe by the Safety Officer and the City Municipal Judge before each performance.
The sound effects are all electronically produced by our sound engineer.
We hope you enjoy this portrayal of one of our country's legendary figures, Miss Annie Oakley.
Welcome to Annie Get Your Gun.

I am very proud of this cast for stepping up to the challenge of one less week of rehearsal. It is extremely difficult to have everyone at every rehearsal when they are all involved in so many other things, sports, band, church & family. It amazes me they are able to do as well as they do.
I commend the parents for committing to the same schedule and making sure their child is able to enjoy this experience. I want to especially recognize the behind-the-scenes people, stage crew, lights, sound, hair/makeup, costumes & dressers, publicity, props, house. What you see & hear on stage is only due to their commitment and hard work.
Of all these, I want to single out 2 – JIMMY MEYER, designer/crafter of the swing, among other things on stage - couldn’t do it without you!
And KAREN SEAL, who spent her free time painting the Annie & Frank posters
and the last shootout banner. Our Jr. High art students are fortunate indeed to have such a talented artist as their instructor.
