Thank you for taking the time to be a part of this fantastic show. A good friend directed this show a few years ago, and I had the pleasure of watching it. I knew that I wanted to share this story with the Chaparral audience as soon as I could. I am sure you will enjoy being a part of the story between Grace Fryer, an employee, and U.S. Radium Corporation under the direction of Arthur Roeder. The show is based in history. The characters you will meet on stage tonight were real people. As we journey from 1918 through the 1920’s and end in the 1940’s, you will begin to understand the true story from both sides.
The cast of 20 and crew of 50+ have studied a bit of history accessed a bit of science, used a lot of math, learned some world accents, done some engineering, had some fun, and developed our passion for storytelling through the wonderful art form we call theatre. The Chaparral students continue to impress me with their hard work, dedication, and ability to bring their best each and every day.
I would like to thank Kristine Smiley for all of the hard work she invested into the show, Douglas County High School for lending us furniture, Kathy Rogers for taking on the box office and program, Mady Frangella for helping to direct this show, the paint crew for painting so many bricks, my family for their continued love and support, the school administration for supporting the arts, and you for supporting live theatre.
Enjoy the show,
David Peterson
