Welcome to High School Musical! We are excited to have you here and to have the opportunity to share this show with you!! This show, which started as a Disney Channel Movie, has been seen around the world by millions of people. I think that the show creators did a great job of keeping the fun of the original movie, but added some depth to the show for the stage production. The challenge in producing a show that is so well-known, is that you can't always cast the same as the original production. We decided that we would cast the kids that auditioned the best for the role, rather then try to stick to what people might expect to see. We hope that you will look past any of your pre-conceived notions of casting, and come into the world that we have created. What we hope you will see today is a fast-paced, upbeat, song and dance-filled production that we have put a lot of time and effort into.
I count my blessings every day that I have the opportunity to do what I do. I am lucky enough to get to create educational theatre, which I am truly passionate about, to work with fantastic professionals, who are also great people, and to teach these AMAZING students. I am humbled by how much I learn from them every day. Theatre has the power to bring people from all walks of life together. I am grateful for the support that our school, community, and students have shown to this program.
Seniors-I will miss you greatly! You have left a lasting impact on this program and my heart and I hope you will always cherish the memories you have created here on the Centennial Stage. I wish you nothing but success in all you choose to do! Here's to your "Start of Something New!"
To Becky, Sharon, Emily, Kathy, Brice, and Tim: Thank you for always being people that the kids and I can count on. We have had some challenges this show, but you have all risen up to help wherever you could, and I can't begin to tell you how much that means to me. We have a lot of fun together and I truly consider you all friends. We all appreciate the work that you put in behind the scenes to help to create the magic.
To all of the parents, families, alumni, and volunteers who gave of their own time to make this show happen: We are grateful for your support and willingness to be a part of our greater CHS drama family. Thank you!
Finally, I have 3 people in my personal life that make it possible for me to do this crazy job. My husband, Darren, and my kids, Conner and Sydney, sacrific a great deal in order for me to be a drama director. They put up with my tired, grumpy attitude at home, and love me anyway! They encourage me to no end, and are the reason that I strive to put on something they will be proud of. I love you all far more than words could ever express and I thank God for you everyday!!
Thank you all for attending and we hope you enjoy the show! Go WILDCATS!!
Respectfully,
Kellie McCarty
